'Staches

If you like little quirky things to brighten your day or just make you laugh, 'staches are for you!
You can use the templates found here:  'stache downloands   I used their template to cut out a mustache from very thick backed felt from the craft store & taped it on a skewer or small dowel. I can't wait to use Paper Craft's idea to add a 'stache to drinking straws. Any way you decide to use this template, it's sure to add that extra kick to your party! Set them out & watch the playfulness begin. Just don't forget to have your camera ready.

Receive less junk mail!!!

I love Sunset magazine! They always have lists & info on great local hot spots to visit, fresh recipes & their finger on the pulse of doing things the green way. I'm Not a fanatical tree-hugger, but I do love this planet God has given us! I wish I had the time to grow all my own organic food & be healthier in the process. sigh* But alas, I live in this crazy world where organic isn't the easiest to find at my local stores & I have a full time job plus enough other responsibilities that my own garden is simply an impossibility for me at this time.
The January issue has an article "The zero waste home". I enjoyed learning how this family has reduced their waste to a few handfuls of nonrecyclable waste each year! Whaaat??!!??
I couldn't go to their extremes, but it got me thinking....
She has even eliminated junk mail!!! Hurrah!!

Today I came home to a credit card 'approval', a request to renew a subscription to a magazine I have tried to cancel since the first issue, & another item I can't even remember! It's like that every day- So, I'm going to do at least one thing to purge my life of unneeded, unwanted, unsolicited items. I went to DMA choice .This is the hidden site that will allow you to throw away all that junk mail BEFORE it even heads to your mailbox. You can even limit the amount of commercial e-mails you receive. Talk about less stress & more time... Yeah!  It suggests that for a few days or weeks, you should keep track of the mail you don't want to receive anymore, then head back to their site fully armed  & ready to waylay those pesky envelopes before they have a chance to head to your the mailbox.

As the world turns

I saw this wonderful inspiration on another blog & had to try it for myself. The blogger turned an old globe into a chalkboard globe. Who wouldn't want one??

I bought the globe in decent condition from a Goodwill. You can see why it was there- a few tears around the equator & it had a cheap plastic base. I had already purchased the chalkboard & metallic spray paint in anticipation of finding a globe on sale, so here it goes...

A partially untwisted metal hanger suspended the orb from an opened garage door. It's an old door that swings out, so it allowed complete coverage around & under the globe which is critical for a smooth finish. (Make sure you move the car! You never want any nasty over spray ruining it's finish!) The globe was left hanging inside the garage for a day to allow enough dry time. The metallic spray was used to cover the rest of the globe fixtures. Once dry, I put all the pieces together and....

to add something extra, I used chalk to outline the continents, even though I have thought about using a little white paint.  There is still more than enough room left for a message-   Drinks at 7?
